1) Why all the fuss; what's the Online Initiative?

For 2013, the Aspen Parks & Recreation Department will begin to standardize and better develop our communications with our valued local Patrons. To do so, we’ve picked the obvious medium of the Internet. Our intent is to streamline and better target the delivery of information that you request us to provide you. Facilitation of this initiative will occur through our eMail connection with you. With your eMail address you’ll be able to maintain an online account, receive discounted prices, receive online-only specials and exclusively communicate your advanced reservation requirements for some of our scheduled classes. Later in 2013 you’ll be able to manage your unique online communications subscription, limiting the eMails that you receive from us to include ONLY the particular types of classes, events, facilities and registration items for which you care to be notified about, and ONLY at the frequency you wish to receive them.

2) What's in it for me?

For starters, the 2013 online pricing for Aspen Parks & Rec services will be the same low pricing that we offered in 2012. Again, only when obtained online. Prices over the phone and at the counter go up approximately 15% for 2013.

Later in the year we’ll begin to introduce online-only specials and you’ll be able to exclusively communicate your advanced reservation requirements for some of our scheduled classes.

3) What if I don't have an eMail address?

We are unfortunately unable to accommodate all of the people, all of the time. If you are unable to provide a properly validated eMail address, we are unable to include you in this Online Initiative. We invite your continued patronage and we will provide for your recreation needs upon arrival at our facilities, offering a slightly higher, non-Online fee schedule.

Beginning January 1st, 2013, we will have Internet Kiosks at all of our facilities, providing Internet connectivity and a computer for use by those Patrons whom don’t otherwise have access to these items at either their work or homes. Using our Kiosks, one can easily register and purchase our programs and services, and, if you don’t have an eMail address, you might even subscribe to free eMail services such as Yahoo or Gmail. However, all of our correspondence with you will be via eMail, so you will need to make a point of checking your eMail regularly, even if it is via our facility Kiosks.

4) Why can't I access my Aspen Recreation account?

Chances are either one of two issues:

  • the first and most often is that it easy to forget your user name and/or password. One can click the “Member Login” at the top of this screen, then click the “Forgotten?” link. Here you’ll enter your eMail address and you will be eMailed your password.

From the “Member Login” screen you will now be able to click “Login with [x] Email”, provide your eMail address as your Login ID and enter your password (which was just mailed to you) in the Password field, then click the Sign-In button.

  • the other probable cause for this issue is that when you originally completed your Creation of a New Account, our system sends you a validation eMail which requires that you open it and click a validation link in order to complete the New Account creation process.

If you haven’t received that eMail, first check your eMail Spam folder for an eMail from parksandrec@aspenrecreation.net. Make sure this eMail address is on your approved senders list.

  • If all else fails, you may call the Aspen Recreation department at 970-544-4100 and ask us to assist you.

We will reset your eMail address (if necessary), along with provision you with a temporary login and password, and then eMail them to you at that eMail address you have provided. Once received, you will be able to login and update your information to the credentials you’d prefer to maintain.

5) What happened to the discount(s) I formerly received?

In order to accommodate this Online Initiative, we are treating the Online Community as one large group and providing them the best group rate possible. All other group and membership rates and discounts that were offered in the past will now be best served through participating as a member in this new Online Initiative.

6) Can I still buy a Gift Certificate?

Yes. Buy your Gift Certificates either at a Rec Center counter (ARC or Red Brick) or by phone (970-544-4100). You are then able to give the Gift Certificate as a gift, either using the actual Certificate itself (if you pick it up at the counter) or just give the Gift Certificate number. Your Giftee will then be able to use the Gift Certificate number, applying the dollar amount of your Gift Certificate to the discounted (online-only) price when he/she purchases online. During the online transaction, the Giftee is always presented with a field in which to enter a Gift Certificate number in order to receive credit for the amount of that certificate.
